We are very proud of the education in Lake City! We have great students, a strong staff, and a wonderful community. Our excellent school community has supported our schools with a recent 22 Million dollar bond referendum which was used to renovate our facilities at Lincoln at Bluff View as well as a 10-year renewal of an operating levy. This "renovated" facility means updated heating and ventilation in all classrooms, new science labs/classrooms, new FACS classrooms, a modernized look to the entire school and all classrooms, a new renovated foyer entrance, a renovated auditorium, a new boys locker room, new kitchen and food service, a new track, tuck pointing and new parking lots, and more! We are so very excited for a facility that will better prepare all of our students for a 21st century education!
Lincoln High School is made up of a 7th-8th grade middle school and a 9-12 high school. Our middle school strives to provide a personalized team approach to education. Our high school offers a diverse curriculum designed to meet the needs of all our students. Our ultimate goal is to prepare all students for the challenges of the 21st century by providing a school that is rigorous, relevant, and centered on fostering positive relationships with our students and staff.
In addition to our strong academic foundation in Lake City, we are also very proud of our strong Arts, Athletics, and Extra-curricular programs. We have developed new leadership opportunities for our students with our Tiger Teen Leadership Program (TLP), which develops 11th and 12th grade student leaders. We believe we have programs and opportunities to meet the needs of all our students!
As one of 12 Minnesota schools to receive a STEM grant in 2008, we have developed many new courses and curriculum to best meet the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math needs of our students. We have developed a new robotics and engineering curriculum, have eleven Advanced Placement courses, one concurrent college credit course, a successful advisor/advisee program, have become a CLEP testing site administering over 100 CLEP exams to our students. We have classroom sets of Vernier Lab Quests in science classrooms, a SMART Board in every general classroom, and much more technology integration. We are in our 6th year as a 1:1 iPad School as all students in grades 7-12 to receive an iPad to be used as a powerful educational tool in the classroom! This iPad, combined with our use of Schoology as a Learning Management System has began to transform how our students learn.
This past spring Lincoln High School was again recognized as one of a handful of schools in Minnesota on the "Challenge Index" put out by the Washington Post. The Challenge Index recognizes the best schools in America based on student participation in Advanced Placement courses and this was Lincoln's fourth year on the list! Lincoln was also recently placed on the US News and World Report list of top schools for the first time. It is also estimated that the Lincoln High School class of 2017 earned over 500 college credits while at Lincoln! We are truly working to prepare all of our students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century!
