Hi, my name is Amy Rogness. (I look a lot like Candace- see the picture above.) I am the mother of two great kids Max and Evelyn. And have spent the summer playing at the park, swimming, and visiting family. I am excited to begin another great school year!
I have taught in Lake City since 1997. I have loved the time I have spent teaching at Bluff View. I teach First, Second, Third and Sixth Grade General Music.
In First Grade music, we spend most of our time singing! We work on finding our head voices. We also enjoy playing musical games and listening to music.
Second Graders prepare for their big musical program, either in December or March. The preparation of this project is exciting and rewarding. Their courage to perform shines. We also begin rhythm reading and try our hand at basic music composition.
Third Graders try their "hands" at keyboards, starting in the middle of the year. Students get their experiences on electronic keyboards and test out their note reading and rhythm reading skills. We also continue the work we began in second grade as they move on to rhythmic and melodic dictation.
Sixth graders spend the year focusing on music appreciation. We find out what there is to fear and not to fear about opera. We study the lives of Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn and their music to Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream". We spend time creating with STOMP and exploring the music of world cultures. We do activities as typical as worksheets and as creative as acting.
