Bluff View Library Media Center Policies

Check Out Periods and Renewals

Each class, grades K-6, visits the Media Center once a week for 30 minutes.  During this time, students receive library skill instruction, a prepared introduction to authors and books, or a story.  They also check out books.  BOOKS ARE DUE WEEKLY.

Unlimited renewals are allowed unless there are numerous requests for a popular title.  Students must bring library materials to the Library Media Center to renew them.

Number of Books Allowed For Checkout

Kindergarten     –     1 book
First                 –     2 books
Second            –     2 books
Third                –     3 books
Fourth              –     3 books
Fifth                 –     3 books
Sixth                –     3 books

Overdue Books and Lost Materials

We strive to make sure that all children have access to great books and are aware of their responsibilities when borrowing them.

Overdue notices are sent to classrooms weekly.  Individual notices are given to students when books are overdue 2 weeks.  Students who have books overdue will be limited in the number of books they can check out.  If you have questions about your child’s overdues, please call Mrs. Spence in the Bluff View Media Center @ 651-345-4551 during school hours or e-mail me at dspence@lake-city.k12.mn.us.

We do not charge overdue fines, but if a book is lost or damaged, parents NEED TO CONTACT US BY NOTE, PHONE CALL, OR E-MAIL.  Students are expected to pay for the cost of repair or for the cost of replacement.
